Caribou recreation offers youth soccer, adult trips

Youth soccer

Registrations are being accepted for the youth soccer program offered through the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department. Player meetings are set for Aug. 16. Students in grades 3-4 will meet from 5:30-7 p.m. at Teague Park field and fifth to seventh graders will meet 6:30-8 p.m. at the Paul Soucie Memorial Field on Sincock Street.

The registration fee is $18 for residents and $33 for non-residents. This fee includes a T-shirt and a mouth guard. The deadline to register is 7 p.m. Aug. 16.

Adult trips planned

A tour of the Edmundston Botanical Gardens and the Petit Sault Craft Brewery is planned for Aug. 22. A kayaking outing on the Aroostook River from Caribou to Fort Fairfield takes place Aug. 26.

A trip to the Grand Falls Gorge, followed by a riverboat excursion, is set for Sept. 1.

Each trip requires pre-registration and there is a fee. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. For more information, call the recreation office at 493-4224.

Center hours

The Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center hours are 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday. The center is closed Saturday and Sunday.
