AARP workshop targets age 50-plus entrepreneurs

HOULTON, Maine — AARP Foundation’s Work for Yourself@50+ will help low- and moderate-income adults age 50 and over with information toward successful self-employment.

The two-hour workshop is planned Thursday, Aug. 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Houlton Higher Education Center, 18 Military St.

Karin Petrin, microenterprise specialist for the Northern Region of New Ventures Maine, will instruct the session, designed to walk participants through the Work for Yourself@50+ materials and connect them with local resources to help them reach their goals.

Interested participants should call the AARP Foundation at (888) 339-5617 to register for this workshop. Registrations are accepted on the morning of the event.
