PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Aroostook Retired Educators Association has announced that Sen. Susan Collins will be the guest speaker at the Aug. 22, 2017, meeting.
The meeting will be held at the Edmunds Conference Center on the Northern Maine Community College campus in Presque Isle. Registration is at 11 a.m. with a buffet lunch at noon; the cost of the meal is $15.
One of AREA’s aims is remaining connected to Maine’s youth, and during this summer’s meetings the group has enjoyed the exceptional talent of two young ladies. At the June meeting, Hope Chernesky awed the group with her violin selections; at the July meeting, Melanie Soucier captured the audience with vocal offerings.
Members are reminded that donations to the Bulging Backpack Program and to the area food pantries are ongoing throughout the summer meetings, as supporting education and the community are the group’s essential goals.
