On Saturday Aug. 12, Maxine Giberson was presented with the Boston Post Gold Cane by Houlton Town Manager Butch Asselin as she is Houlton’s most senior resident.
The presentation was made on her 102nd birthday at an open house held in her honor at her Madigan Assisted Living residence. Many friends, former students and relatives stopped by Madigan Estates to wish her a happy birthday. Originally from Danforth, Giberson has been a resident of Houlton since 1963 when her Husband, Hamilton Giberson, accepted the position as superintendent of schools in Houlton. Giberson is known by many in town as she taught grade 3 for 14 years and has been active in the community. She is a member of Houlton Methodist church.
