SHERMAN, Maine — One of the final community celebrations, Sherman Old Home Days, returns Labor Day weekend with four fun-filled days of activities.
This year’s celebration features a number of changes to the traditional schedule. According to Allison Roy, one of the event organizers, the variety show, which has been traditionally held on Sunday night, has been moved to Friday, Sept. 1 at the Sherman Rec. Dept. starting at 7 p.m.
Also, the Little Miss Old Home Days Pageant will now be held on Sunday, Sept. 3rd at 6 p.m., instead of the traditional 3 p.m. time slot.
“There will be a petting zoo and free ice cream social for children only on Sunday, Sept. 3, at 1 p.m.,” she added. “Games will be on Monday and will cost 25 cents with a chance to win prizes. And when the kids play a game, they get their name put in for a chance to win free children’s bikes which will be drawn Monday at 6 p.m. Grounds tickets still are $1, but now you have three chances to win either $100, $75 or $50.”
All events, unless otherwise noted, will be held around the town office. For more information, contact Roy at 557-4365 or Steven Lane at 365-4311.
