Amelia ‘Mickey’ Leighton Kelley

CARIBOU, Maine – Amelia ‘Mickey’ Leighton Kelley, a resident of Maine Veterans’ Home in Caribou, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Aug 24, 2017. Mickey was born April 10, 1928 to Justin and Dorothy Leighton in Portland, ME.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Jr., brothers Kenneth, Waldo and Lloyd, as well as her sister Shirley Sevigney. She is survived by her brother Leroy Leighton of East Millinocket, and sisters Gladys Baker and Linda Spaight of Glastonbury, CT. Also surviving is her special “son” Mike Lajoie, his wife Kathy; her “grandchildren” whom she loved dearly, Mike Jr. (Monica), Nathan (Danne) and Shayna Oquendo (Jacob). She adored her great-grandchildren, Steven and Wyatt Joyner, Benaiah, Cadence, and Rowan Lajoie, and Evynne Oquendo. And a very special niece she loved very much Alexis Ward, as well as special friends Carolyn Pelkey of Bangor, Roland (Faith) Tracy of Hartford, CT.
To the staff of the Maine Veterans’ Home, she loved you all so much and the family so appreciates the care and love you gave to her while she visited with you. We will always remember her dry humor and smiling face.
Memorial services will be held September 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethel Pentecostal Church, 294 Access Hwy., Caribou, with Rev. Roger Jewell officiating. Donations can be made to the Maine Veterans’ Home in Caribou in her memory. Arrangements by Mockler Funeral Home. www.mocklerfuneralhome.com
