PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Star City was a little more colorful on Saturday, Aug. 26, as white clad runners sprinted from Riverside Park to the University of Maine Presque Isle and back while taking fistfuls of color powder to the face and body, returning to the finish line looking as though they were mauled by a rainbow.
More than 300 runners and volunteers turned out for the 5th annual Color Presque Isle 5K on Saturday at Riverside.
The event added more color this year with the addition of the Orange station just before the finish line.
Community leader, John Harvell, donated free ice cream for all as a refreshing way to cool off as the midday sun came out.
Winners of this year’s costume contest were Samantha White and Kevin Guyan.
Each runner received a bag of color powder after crossing the finish line for the traditional grand finale color toss.
