SACO, Maine — Seven-year-old Bailey Raye Soucy was recently crowned the 2018 USA National Miss Maine Princess at the 8th annual Maine Academic Scholarship Pageant.
Held at Thornton Academy’s Garland Auditorium in Saco Aug. 19, Soucy was among 90 women and youngsters competing for a variety of crowns. As a crowned princess, she is now eligible to compete in the national event, slated for July 2018 in Orlando, Florida.
At the nationals, she will be among the state winners vying for more than $300,000 in prizes and scholarships and the opportunity to represent the Unite Against Bullying ME Crown CARES project in Maine Schools.
Soucy, a 2nd grader at Houlton Elementary School, is the daughter of Lori Soucy and Chad Soucy. She enjoys taking dance classes at the Houlton School of Dance and gymnastics through All Star Gymnastics.
She enjoys giving back to her community by volunteering and promoting the crown platform Crown C.A.R.E.S. Bailey is looking forward to her reign as USA National Miss Maine Princess and competing on a national level. First runner up was Rhianna Desjardins of Mapleton.
