Leonard R. Lougee

LEONARD R. LOUGEE, DYER BROOK – Leonard R. Lougee, 96, passed away August 29, 2017, in Patten. He was born in Houlton on September 18, 1920, to Paul and Pauline (Nadeau) Lougee.
After graduating from Oakfield High School, he attended Bryant & Stratton Business School in Boston, graduating in 1940. He married Lillian Moore, a school teacher from Brewer, on January 23, 1942. He entered the US Army during WWII serving in England, France, Belgium, and Germany.
In 1950, Leonard moved to Island Falls as the Chevrolet dealer for the area. He and Lillian raised their three children there. He was active in town politics and served on many committees and was elected to the 108th and 109th Maine State Legislature for four years.
He was a past member of the Oakfield Frank B. Holden American Legion Post No 52, the Island Falls Lions Club, the Island Falls VFW and a fifty year member of the Island Falls #206 Masonic Lodge.
Leonard was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed his time at his St. Croix and Howe Brook camps with family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Toby, and his wife Darleen; his daughter, Elizabeth, and her husband Doug, all of Island Falls; his grandchildren, Connie, Joey, Ryan, Jefferson, Eliza, and Tara; and his great grandchildren, Christopher, Kimberly, Ryan Jr., Ricardo, Briana, Hunter, Zachary, Nicholas, Lillian, Savannah, Isaiah, Isabella, Malachi, Joshua, Matthew and Ava.
He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Pauline, his brother Billy, his wife Lillian, and his son Robert W. (Bill) Lougee.
His family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at the Mountain Heights Nursing Home for the excellent and loving care they gave Leonard during the past three years. We would also like to thank Dr. Hrynick for the quality care he gave him and thank you to Beacon Hospice.
