Grasshoppers to play PIHS squad

The Special Olympic Grasshoppers will play a soccer game Sept. 20 against the Presque Isle High School boys’ team.

The match will take place beginning at 7 p.m. at the Johnson Athletic Complex on the Presque Isle Middle School campus.

Carl Michaud, the director of administration for the Central Aroostook Association, said this year’s Grasshopper team includes 25 players, which is a large increase from the inaugural season in 2016.

Circuit training offered at PI rec

The Sargent Family Community Center is offering a six-week exercise program. Circuit training is for adults with all levels of physical ability. The class will be available on Monday and/or Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room.

The cost will be $5 per class, $25 for once a week or $50 for twice a week. Class starts on Sept. 11 and ends Oct. 19. Individuals can come in and try it for free on Thursday, Sept. 7 at 5:30 p.m. Bring hand weights if you have them.

Bowling meetings

Northern Lanes will hold organizational meetings for its bowling leagues as follows: Wednesday, Sept. 6, 6:30 p.m., Men’s National and American leagues; Thursday, Sept. 7, 6:30 p.m., Men’s Independent League; and Sunday, Sept. 10, 5 p.m., Mixed Doubles League.

The junior league is scheduled to get underway Saturday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m.

Open bowling hours through Sept. 16 are Monday through Friday from 6-8 p.m., Saturday from noon-9 p.m. and Sunday from 1-5 p.m.
