The Caribou Middle School soccer teams continued their season with matches played last week.
The girls claimed a pair of victories, 5-3 over Fort Fairfield and 4-0 over Presque Isle Blue. Ashlyn Bouchard scored three goals and assisted on another at Fort Fairfield Wednesday, Aug. 30. Hannah Beauchamp netted the other two goals and Libby Collier saved four of seven shots in goal. Mia Theriault, Ahlanda Engstrom and Marienna St. Peter recorded assists.
Beauchamp scored two first-half goals as Caribou rolled past PI Blue on Thursday, Aug. 31, in Caribou. Bouchard provided two insurance goals for the Vikes. Collier gained the shutout by saving both shots she faced. Lauren Craig, Selena Savage and Alexis Gustin notched assists.
Coach Mark Shea said Abby McNeal, Kerigan Guerrette, Caiah Bernard, Charis Day and Tyra Sterner were other contributors to the two wins.
The Caribou boys won two games and played to a tie in their other match. In a 7-4 triumph at home over Houlton on Aug. 28, the Vikes overcame an early deficit by scoring six unanswered goals. Ari Plante had three goals and two assists, while Jude Shea also scored three times and assisted on another to lead the attack. Devin Wright had the team’s other goal.
In a 4-0 victory at Fort Fairfield on Aug. 30, Shea, Griffin McNeal, Alex Levesque and Aryan Bawa all contributed goals.
Plante scored his team’s only goal in the 1-1 tie on Thursday, Aug. 31, at home against the Presque Isle Blue team.
Dylan Bouchard, Jacob Walton, Cameron Belanger, Alex Belanger, Mason St. Peter, Calvin Hersey, Ryan Austin, Aiden Wilcox, Eliott Sleeper, Keegan Bell, Bobby Caron and goalkeeper Michael Brigman were other key contributors for the CMS boys during the week, according to coach Steve Perreault.
