CARIBOU, Maine – Carol L. Hotelling, 66, died unexpectedly September 17, 2017, at her Caribou residence. She was born in Caribou, September 3, 1951, the daughter of the late Merle and Cecile (Plourde) Espling.
Carol was a graduate of Washburn High School and was employed as a dietary aide at Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing for a number of years. She will always be remembered as a talented and crafty lady, always learning a new self-taught skill, from woodworking and cake decorating to painting glass, there was nothing she wouldn’t try.
She is survived by two sons, John Hotelling and his fiancé, Samantha Plante of Caribou and Stephen and Jody Smith of Portland; two daughters, Renee Ledue and husband, Mark and Heather Michaud and significant other, Chris Corbin, all of Caribou; her siblings, Linda and James Tilley of Caribou, Sharon and Alan “Butch” Thompson of Washburn, Michael and Dayle Espling of Caribou, Cathy and William Honer of Denver, CO., Lisa Espling of Presque Isle, Mark and Debbie Espling of Caribou and Patti and Dennis Bartlett of Presque Isle; ten grandchildren, Kyle, Nathan, Kearstin, Katelyn, Brittany, Addisyn, Ashlee, Ryan, Jake and Dominic; two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews; also, her special canine companion, Daisy, as well as special friends. Carol was predeceased by her brother, David Espling.
Friends may visit with the family Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou, from 10 am until time of services, which will be held at 12:00 noon. Interment will be in the New Holy Rosary Cemetery. www.mocklerfuneralhome.com
