ACI Class of 1965 reunites

The Class of 1965 at Aroostook Central Institute met the weekend of Aug. 6 and 7 for their 45th class reunion. The Class of 1965 was the last class to graduate from ACI as the local schools consolidated the next year and the high school became Central Aroostook High School. The weekend kicked off with a barbecue at the home of Steve and Sharyl Hitchcock. The next morning, several classmates gathered at Al’s Diner for breakfast, followed by a trip up Mars Hill Mountain. It was a beautiful day and the view was spectacular. Mount Katahdin could be seen in the distance.

Many gathered around the original flagpole on which the flag was raised July 4, 1960, as the first place the sun rises in the United States. Class members were still in elementary school when that event took place, but many remembered being present. In the afternoon, the Porter family gave us a tour of Spudland Alpacas. On Saturday evening, a potluck supper was held at the Mars Hill Snowmobile Club. Music was provided by Todd Corey.
A wonderful weekend was enjoyed by all, with classmates recalling memories, and new memories were made.
