Presque Isle rec soccer summaries
In grades 3-4 girls action last Tuesday, the Galaxy defeated the Blizzard, 1-0, behind a goal from Savannah Rodriquez, assisted by Emma Bouchard. Rebecca Gallagher played well in goal for the Blizzard.
The grades 5-6 playoffs got under way that day, with the third-seeded Clash downing the No. 6 Express, 2-0. Ryle Mortland scored off a Jordan Bonville assist and Caleb Page knocked in a penalty kick to provide the offense for the winners. Alex Brewer and Wyatt Kennedy were standouts for the Express.
The No. 4 Mutiny stopped the No. 5 Crew, 2-1, behind a pair of goals off the foot of Gavin Kelley. Madison Bearden picked up the assist on one of the tallies. Denny Young scored a second-half goal for the Crew and striker Emily Wheaton and defender Camden Bates were other Crew standouts, but Pat Cash was too tough in goal for the Mutiny.
Last Wednesday, the grades 3 and 4 teams were back on the field and the Missiles blanked the Blast, 3-0. Zech Morse, Chris Bearden and Torey Levesque scored the goals and Levesque also posted a shutout in goal during the first half. William Bridges played well in goal for the Blast and teammate Rolen Mortland also was strong offensively.
The second game of the day proved to be an defensive struggle as the Sounders and Drillers finished in a scoreless tie. Caleb Wheaton of the Sounders came close to scoring, but his shot caromed off the post. Goalie Mason Young was tough in goal for the Sounders, while Sam Beaulieu and Jake Stevens played great games for the Drillers.
The final game featured the Galaxy getting past the Hurricane, 2-1. Savannah Rodriquez scored both goals for the winners, while Libby Moreau tallied for the Hurricane.
Only one game was played Thursday due to inclement weather and terrible field conditions. The Drillers claimed a 2-0 victory over the Blast. Jake Stevens and Trace Cyr were the goal scorers.
