    WACHLIN, Anna P., 95, PRESQUE ISLE, at Philadelphia, October 4, 2010. Private services will be arranged at a later date in Limestone.


 

    PRESQUE ISLE – Anna P. Wachlin, 95, passed away at her son and daughter-in-law’s home in Philadelphia, on October 4, 2010. A long-time resident of Presque Isle, Anna has spent the last five years in Philadelphia with her family.
    Anna was born in Limestone, on May 18, 1915, to Mark T. and Bertha Foote Phair. She graduated from Oak Grove High School, then started college at Farmington and then obtained her degree in History from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She taught English for 20 years at Skyway Middle School in the SAD 1 School System. She also taught students music and art .
    In addition to teaching, Anna enjoyed painting both water color and oil. She was an avid gardener and loved walking the nearby trails at Mantle Lake. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, playing the piano and reading. Anna also loved animals, she rode horses when she was younger and always had at least one animal under her roof. Up until the last year of her life, she enjoyed surprising people with her unique sense of humor. Anna was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
    Her husband, Leonard R. Wachlin, and her brother, Maurice A. Phair, passed away before her.
    She is survived by her son, Albert P. Wachlin and his wife, Joan and two grandsons, Albert, Jr., and Mark and his wife, Erin.
