HOULTON, Maine — The 24th Annual Greater Houlton Christian Academy Harvest Festival and Auction returns Saturday, Oct. 7.
Beginning at 10 a.m. with a bake sale and children’s games, the large auction, which is one of the main fundraisers for the school, follows at 11 a.m.
“Auctioneers Wayne Watson and Tammie Mulvey will be our hosts again this year,” says Tom Zimmerman, Head of School. “Our most popular items — handmade quilts and furniture — will take center stage. This is a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon with other community members and friendly bidding competitions for over 300 great items just before the holidays.”
The auction offers something for everyone, and items are posted on GHCA’s Facebook page.
“We are certainly grateful for a generous community who supports this important event,” said Zimmerman. “GHCA is committed to helping provide an affordable Christian education for area families and fundraising efforts, like the auction, help GHCA keep the cost of tuition lower than the actual cost of running the school.”
GHCA has provided a Christian education to students from Aroostook County, Maine, New Brunswick, Canada and event overseas students for 33 years. It is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and the Association of Christian Schools International(ACSI).
GHCA also has full “State Approved” status by the Maine Department of Education. The Harvest Auction is held at the school which is located at 27 School St. in Houlton. To learn more about GHCA, visit www.ghca.com, “Like” them on Facebook or contact the office at 532-0736.
