NARFE meeting date changed

    The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) group’s meeting which was scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 28, has been changed to Thursday, Nov. 4. The luncheon will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the American Legion in Caribou. The subject of discussion will b e health insurance. For more information, call 764-4468.

 
UMPI to host Jabali Afrika

    PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle will host the premiere multi-cultural band Jabali Afrika on Oct. 27 in Wieden Auditorium. The event will consist of a workshop from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. where attendees will sit down with members of Jabali Afrika and talk more in depth about the group’s heritage, how the instruments are made and the meanings behind them. The main event will begin at 8 p.m. where Jabali Afrika will perform live. The group has also made appearances in Mr. Rogers’ neighborhood, “Good Morning America,” BET and MTV. This event is open to the public. For more information contact April Sue Platt at 768-9582.

 
Faculty Noon Seminar series

    PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Faculty Noon Seminar series will continue from 12:30 to 1 p.m. in the Normal Hall Faculty Lounge on Oct. 28 with a presentation by Dr. Raymond Rice, who will present “How Paul LePage Serves as a Symptom of Maine’s Hunger: Or, Why LePage would Rather be a Vampire than a Zombie.” For more information contact Lynn Eldershaw at 768-9749.
