ASHLAND, Maine — Dorothy M. Robinson, 86, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at a Presque Isle hospital following a brief illness. She was born April 7, 1931 in Masardis, a daughter of the late Harvey and Fannie (Rockwell) Craig.

Dorothy worked for the Maine Seed Potato Board for many years. A former telephone operator in Presque Isle, she was a long-time member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Dorothy was a life-member of the Ashland VFW Auxiliary Post #9699, and had served as District President. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens of Ashland and the Ashland Snowmobile Club. Dorothy enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband Vernon in the woods and waters around the family camp. She enjoyed playing cribbage with her friends and members at the VFW but most recently loved to have company visit her home for her weekly games. She was an avid Red Sox fan, and enjoyed Boston Celtics basketball, and enjoyed attending a Red Sox game at Fenway Park in Boston. She was also a fan of the Chicago Cubs, but she did not share this fact with too many people. Many of her friends and family enjoyed her knitting skills, especially around their birthday or Christmas, and she will be missed greatly by all of them.

She is survived by: her four children, Kevin Robinson and his wife Wendy, Eric Robinson, Kristi Robinson and Kathi Robinson, all of Ashland; a grandson, Joshua Robinson of Newburgh; two great-grandchildren, Lillien and Jude; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind three furry family members, Sasha, Ryder and Ginnie, who were a big part of her later years.

Besides her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Vernon Robinson in 2003, a young daughter, Sherri-Jo Robinson in 1955, and seven brothers, Gerald, Cleo, Roger, Lyman, Clyde, Harvey and Vernon.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Masardis Municipal Cemetery, Masardis, with Pastor Don Morton officiating. A reception will follow at the Ashland VFW Hall. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St./PO Box 39, Ashland.
