WOODLAND, Maine — State police say a head-on collision in Woodland on Tuesday was caused by a driver’s failure to yield at the Route 161 and Thomas Road intersection.
Jessica Doucette, 25, of Stockholm, was traveling north on Route 161 when Dana Small, 88, of Bowdoin, who was travelling south on the highway, attempted to turn onto the Thomas Road and “did not yield to her,” according to a press release issued Wednesday by Sgt. Jeffrey Clark
The action caused a head-on collision in which both vehicles “went off the roadway,” Clark reported
Doucette was wearing a seatbelt and “suffered bruising around where her seatbelt was,” and both Small and his passenger, who was not named in the release, suffered “minor injuries” in the accident, according to the sergeant. All were transported to Cary Medical Center by the Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department.
Doucette’s 2006 Pontiac and Small’s 2015 Buick both had to be towed from the scene.
The press release did not indicate whether charges were filed.
