CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Middle School girls’ soccer team avenged an early-season loss to Presque Isle White, upending the Wildcats by a score of 3-1 in a Sept. 22 match played under the lights at Caribou High School.
Ashlyn Bouchard scored twice and Marienna St. Peter once as the Vikings jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and hung on for the win. Viking goalie Libby Collier made three saves on four shots.
The Lady Vikes closed out their season with a 2-2 draw against Fort Fairfield Sept. 23 in another contest at CHS.
Facing a two-goal deficit at intermission, Caribou clawed its way back in the second half thanks to goals by Hannah Beauchamp and Ashlyn Bouchard. Bouchard’s goal was set up by Selena Savage on a nifty set play off of a corner kick.
Beauchamp also played in the goal in the first half, saving three of five shots. Collier played through the second half and two overtime periods and saved all four shots she faced.
The Caribou squad finished with a 7-4-2 record overall, including a 3-3 Aroostook League mark. The league includes Caribou, Presque Isle White, Presque Isle Blue and Houlton.
