Aroostook County walks to stand against bullying

CARIBOU, Maine — In recognition of October as National Bullying Prevention Month, the fourth annual Aroostook Unite Against Bullying Walk, Run or Roll will be held this coming Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Caribou Recreation Department.

This event will help spread the message of bullying prevention by rallying the community together to raise awareness and educate on this important issue.

Registration for the Walk, Run or Roll will begin at 12:00pm with the event kicking off at 1:00pm.  Participants can take part for $10.00 and will receive a Unite Against Bullying T-shirt while supplies last.

All net proceeds from the walk will benefit awareness and education on bullying prevention in The County.

Aroostook Substance Abuse Prevention and the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department are event co-sponsors. According to organizers, 77 percent of school-aged children and teens are verbally and physically abused daily. They encourage the community to consider joining the event this year, as it takes a strong and supportive community to raise resilient children.
