PI rec activities
Registration for the Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department’s grades 3 and 4 basketball program has begun. The program offers leagues for both boys and girls.
Practices and games are held weekdays after school at the community center and begin Nov. 29. The registration fee is $18. The schedule will be released Nov. 19.
The recreation department has begun registration for a second session of the after school arts program, which runs through Dec. 17. Children in grades 1-3 meet at the Wintergreen Arts Center on Tuesday and Thursday from 3-5:30 p.m. Grades 4-6 meet on Wednesday and Thursday from 3-5:30 p.m. The cost is $60 with an additional $30 for non-residents.
The Mini Monet program, for 2-5 year olds, will be held on Fridays from 10-11 a.m. and the cost is $25 for Presque Isle residents and an additional $30 for non-residents. Please contact the recreation center at 764-2545 with questions.
Open gym will be offered for school-age kids Saturdays and Sundays beginning Nov. 13. Elementary ages have access from 1-3 p.m. and junior and senior high from 3-5 p.m.
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department is holding its fourth annual “Fowl” Shooting Contest Nov. 15-17 from 5:15-5:45 p.m. each day. The contest is for children in grades 3-6 and their parents or grandparents.
Winners of each division will win a Thanksgiving turkey. Participants come in to the center and shoot on the designated days. Contact the recreation office at 764-2545 for more information.
Men’s basketball will start the week of Nov. 15 and runs Tuesdays from 7-9 p.m. The program is informal and cost is $1 per evening.
The Presque Isle Recreation and Parks Department is hosting birthday parties for ages 4 and up at the recreation center.
The center is available Friday and Saturday nights from 6-8 p.m., with one hour of organized gym games included in the rental. Call 764-2545 for more information.
