CARIBOU, Maine — The 2017 Caribou Rotary Club Cash Draw is underway, and tickets are selling quickly.
“We’re off to a great start,” said Carla Thibodeau, the Caribou Rotary Club president-elect and chair of the Cash Draw this year.
This draw is the primary fundraiser for the Caribou Rotary Club and has allowed the club to complete numerous community projects, Thibodeau said. Some of the projects the club has helped to sponsor include the ski building at Caribou High School, dugouts at the ball field on Sincock Street, and the playground equipment at Hilltop Elementary School. This year’s fundraiser will allow the Rotary Club to continue its long tradition of Service Above Self.
In addition, donations enable the Rotary Club to continue supporting programs of the Caribou Recreation Department, the Caribou school system, Caribou Public Library and Caribou Little League, and also help members provide the annual bicycle helmets to all third-graders in Caribou and four surrounding communities.
“If you live in Caribou or the central Aroostook region, chances are very good that you or someone you know benefits from a Caribou Rotary Club project or donation,” Thibodeau added.
No more than 1,000 tickets will be sold, so chances of winning are 1 in 20. Tickets may be purchased for $60 each, or two or more are $50 each. The purchase price also includes admission for one to the drawing and dance, which will be held at the Caribou Inn & Convention Center on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 6:30 p.m.
This year’s prizes are: $6,000, first prize; $5,000, second prize; and $4,000, third prize. There will also be one $1,000 cash prize, one $500 cash prize, five $250 cash prizes, and 40 $100 cash prizes. There is a $500 early bird drawing for tickets that are paid for by Nov. 11
