After losing her battle with cancer, Ramona Joy (Theriault) Corbin “Monie” passed away at Hospice of Southern Maine in Scarborough, Maine on September 9, 2017, at the age of 57. Monie was born in Fort Fairfield, Maine on January 9, 1960, to Harry Adrian Theriault, Jr. and Myrna Emma Anna Craig.
Growing up in New Sweden, Maine, Monie marched to the beat of her own drum, radiating a bohemian 60’s style with a Janis Joplin vibe. She preferred an uncomplicated life with no desire for “keeping up with the Jones'”. Her superior sense of humor and quick wit was honed at a young age by entertaining her siblings and cousins. Her humor continued long into adulthood, with family members often encouraging her to offer up her “opinion”. Monie preferred a cold brew and shooting pool to any of the “finer” libations or arts – her most endearing and quirky character qualities will remain cherished memories for those who’ve loved her. She will also be remembered for her “creative” cooking disasters. Her infamous “Fizz Cake” explosion will remain her siblings’ favorite story. Monie enjoyed writing poetry, painting, and drawing. She spent much of her quiet time creating bead and metal jewelry.
Monie was predeceased by her parents, as well as her paternal grandparents, Harry Theriault, Sr. and Mavis (Dyer) Brayson, and maternal grandparents, Ralph Craig and Thelma (Stairs) Craig.
She is survived by her children, Troy P. Sapiel and his fiancé, Ashley, and Christian A. Monge; seven siblings, Cathy A. (Theriault) Williams, Kytrina A. (Theriault) Wise, Jeannine Renee A. (Richard) Bernier, Christine L. (Richard) Cyr, Gene N. Richard and his wife, Susan, Mark A. Higgins and his wife, Karrie, and Yvonne M. (Higgins) Waraskevich; 32 nieces and nephews, and many cousins, aunts, uncles and extended family and friends.
At Monie’s request, there will be no memorial service. She will be placed in her eternal resting spot next to her Mother. In lieu of flowers and finery, please raise a glass and take a moment to send a cheer to the universe to celebrate the life of one pretty cool chick. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
