MERRILL, Maine – Eugenia Phyllis (Russell) Phelps, 92, passed away October 15, 2017, in Smyrna. She was born November 23, 1924, in Island Falls, the daughter of Zadoc and Edith (Chambers) Russell.
Mom liked to dance, sing, camp out, crochet, knit, embroider and quilt. She had lots of friends at the Tuesday night jamboree at the Oakfield Community Hall.
She is survived by her sons, Joel A. Hamm of Houlton, and Lionel W. Hamm and his wife, Eva, of Oakfield; daughter, Danielle M. and husband, Kilburn Brannen, of Oakfield; grandchildren, Lionel Hamm Jr., Lorrell Hamm, Lori Hoyt, all of Oakfield, Renee Burby of Millinocket, Robynne and Paul Hoyt of Houlton, Robbie and Melinda Burby of Ashland; great-grandchildren, Bo-Eric and Josh Branscombe of Oakfield, Richard Gilman of Millinocket, Dustin and Tanika Smith of Houlton, Valerie, Sierria, Destiny, Tania, Andrew, Kaleb, Alexis, Kaitlyn, Robbie III Burby of Ashland; great-great-grandchildren, McKenzie Branscombe, Jasmine, Julian and Isaiah Hamm, all of Oakfield; great great grandchildren, McKenzie Branscombe of Patten, Taylor Lizotte of Madawaska; her sisters, Shirley Roy, Druscila Ewings, Flossie Noyes, Lucille Mitchell; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special dear friend, Vern McLaughlin. She was predeceased her parents; her husband, Bernard J. Phelps Sr.; her son, Laurel; a great-grandson, Michael; and her siblings, George, Herbert, Roy, Horace, Daniel, Zadoc, Blanche, Emogena and Clara.
