The 25th annual Turkey Trot 5K Road Race will be held Saturday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. at Caribou High School. Walkers will set off at 9:45 a.m.
The out-and-back 3.1-mile race is sponsored by Cary Medical Center. Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the CHS gym lobby. The registration fee is $10, which includes a long-sleeved T-shirt to the first 50 to sign up. Post- race ceremonies include the traditional turkey-topped pizza and awards will be presented to race winners and age division winners in three categories and one walker’s division.

Washburn District High School will host an alumni basketball event Saturday, Nov. 27, with proceeds to benefit Ryan’s Heart, a local non-profit organization for grieving children and their families.
The girls game will be played at 6 p.m. and the boys game at 8 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

There will also be a three-point shooting contest, a 50-50 raffle and some surprises as well.
Monies raised will help Ryan’s Heart establish a self-sustaining scholarship for high school seniors in Aroostook County.
The pool will be closed for Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 25, but on Friday, Nov. 26, there will be an extra general swim offered from 1-2:45 p.m.
Family swim hours are Friday and Saturday from 6-7 p.m.
The Presque Isle Wildcats will compete in the third annual Holiday Face-Off Tournament Friday and Saturday, Nov. 26 and 27 at the Penobscot Ice Arena in Brewer.
Sponsored by the John Bapst Hockey Boosters, this annual high school hockey tournament brings together area teams for the first competitive action of the season.
On Friday, the Wildcats will take on Brewer at 1 p.m. and John Bapst at 3:40 p.m. On Saturday, PI squares off against Houlton at 11:40 a.m. and then Old Town at 2:20 p.m. The first and second-place teams meet in the championship at 5 p.m.
Admission is $5 per person. Refreshments are available.
The University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Outdoor Adventure Program will host a program to close out the semester. Registrants will be able to participate in biathlon target practice at the Nordic Heritage Sports Center on Friday, Dec. 3. Instruction and activities for this event will be led by local elite biathletes and the registration deadline is Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 4 p.m. For more information contact Kim McCrea at 768-9401.
