CARIBOU, Maine — A local family scholarship will help a respiratory therapist at Cary Medical Center continue her education in nursing.
Tammy Susi, RRT, of Caribou recently received the 2017 Reuben and Annette Cote Family Memorial Scholarship of $750. Susi, a registered respiratory therapist, is a second-year student enrolled in the nursing program at Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle.
The scholarship was established by the Cote family many years ago to support ongoing nursing education at Cary Medical Center. The family was so impressed by the care that Annette received during her hospitalization at Cary in the mid-1980s that they established the scholarship in her memory, which is awarded annually to a Cary Medical Center employee furthering his or her education in the nursing field.
The scholarship funds are administered by the Jefferson Cary Foundation.
“Even though the extended Cote family now resides in various locations throughout the United States, they continue to support the scholarship fund annually here at Cary,” explained Mary Harrigan, JCF executive director.
“They realize the importance of promoting and supporting the education of Cary nurses so that they can provide the best possible care for their patients right here at home.”
