BANGOR, Maine — Three former Washburn District High School basketball standouts are on the rosters of Husson University basketball teams, which open regular season play Nov. 18.
Mackenzie Worcester and Joan Overman, both 2015 graduates of WDHS, and Mitchell Worcester, who graduated in 2013, are members of the 2017-18 Eagle squads.
Mackenzie Worcester has started every game throughout her collegiate career and has totalled 816 career points. She scored 430 points last season, which is the 10th highest total for a single season in Husson women’s basketball history.
Overman was a high school teammate of Worcester’s who played for the Eagles as a freshman before sitting out last year. She started eight games during the 2015-16 season and averaged 3 points per game.
Mitchell Worcester, who began his collegiate career at the University of Maine at Orono before transferring to Husson, has accumulated 637 career points. He started 13 of 28 games a year ago and was in the starting lineup in the team’s recent exhibition games against the Black Bears.
The Husson women, coached by Kissy Walker, open this season at a tournament at Williams College in Massachusetts on Nov. 18 and 19, while the Husson men, coached by Warren Caruso, debut at St. Joseph’s College Nov. 18.
