CARIBOU, Maine — The United Veterans of Maine invite the Aroostook County community to celebrate the grand opening of the Dahlgren/Skidgel Farm of Hope on Saturday, Nov. 18, at 10 a.m.
The shelter is located at 358 Washburn Rd. in Caribou.
Saturday’s festivities will include a short program to commemorate the opening of the first cabin, with remarks by Ryan Lilly, director of the Maine VA Health System. The UVM will offer tours of the first cabin on the site, which will be completed and on display.
The completed Farm of Hope facility, spearheaded by UVM President John DeVeau, will offer several cabins as living quarters for homeless area veterans, along with a farm where the veterans may earn a living.
