Douglas ‘Doug’ J. DuBois

PARSONSFIELD, Maine – Douglas ‘Doug’ J. DuBois, 66, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 21, 2017. He was born July 25, 1951, in Waterville, the son of Norman and Mildred (Brissette) DuBois.

He was a man of honor, having served as a medic in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. Subsequent to his service, he graduated from Westbrook College and earned a Master’s degree in Educational Administration. Doug owned and operated Abazinnia Acquired Brain Injury Services, where he helped many families and individuals deal with the effects of brain trauma and behavior spectrum disorders.
Doug appreciated the simple things in life and always saw the glass as half-full. His priority in life was his family. He was a youth baseball coach; a mentor; a best friend; fiercely loyal and protective of his children and grandchildren (sometimes to their dismay); quick with a joke and a hug; and a practitioner of loving kindness. He was also a man who would measure twice and cut once. . . and then cut again. . . and then get a new board; a firm believer that the best snack in the world was a plain potato chip slathered with cream cheese; by his estimation the most handsome of his brothers and his mother’s favorite child; but most importantly of all, he was a devoted and loving spouse, father, and grandfather.
Doug was always on your side and he left everyone’s life a little bit better just by being around. He was the type of person whose life and whose impact on others cannot be summarized in a few short sentences. He was admired by many and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his mother, Mildred Serritella of Caribou; a daughter, Jessica DuBois of Sandwich, Massachusetts; a son, Caleb DuBois and his wife, Kimberly of North Yarmouth; a brother, David DuBois and his wife, Jane of Tallahassee, Florida; a brother, Rodney DuBois of Lake Wales, Florida; a sister, Diane DuBois of Camden; his grandchildren, Riley, Victoria, Jordan, Oliver, and Peyton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, and the love of his life, Deborah (Boothby) DuBois in 2016. Interment will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Parsonsfield, Maine.
A Celebration of his life will be held for family at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Online condolences may be shared at www.duncan-graves.com.
