The event will be held at the Wintergreen Arts Center, located at 149 State Street in Presque Isle, on Friday, Jan. 7th from 7-9 p.m. The show will be on display in the Barressi Financial Gallery at Wintergreen Arts Center throughout the month of January.

LARA CANNON will be signing copies of her activity book, entitled “Under the Willow Tree,” at the Wintergreen Arts Center, 179 State Street, Presque Isle, on Friday, Jan. 7, from 7-9 p.m. as part of this month’s First Friday Art Walk.
Cannon will be displaying some of her illustrations from the recently published WGAC Creativity Book for Young Artists entitled “Under the Willow Tree” as well as some of her other published works. Cannon is the executive director of the Wintergreen Arts Center and a working artist. Her fanciful illustrations are a combination of ink and watercolor. She will be offering a special opening night price of $8 per book — a savings of $2 per book off the regular price — and a special book signing.
“Under the Willow Tree” was created to encourage children to use their own imaginations and allow their art to shine. Each page begins with a little creative inspiration written by local author Melissa Crowe and offers plenty of room for creativity and artistic ingenuity. All proceeds from the sale of the book will go directly to the Wintergreen Arts Center, thanks in large part to the Turner Memorial Foundation.
The artist reception begins at 7 pm and ends at 9 p.m. Young and old are invited to attend. Free creative goodies created by Gretchen Violette will be served from the Citadel Studio Cafe throughout the evening.
The First Friday event is celebrating its ninth consecutive month in Presque Isle and is enjoying increasing popularity. Participating organizations include the Turner Memorial Library Gallery, Wintergreen Arts Center, Merchants on the Corner, Sorpreso Cafe, Morning Star Arts and Framing, the Downtown Revitalization Committee, Freddy P’s, the Presque Isle Chamber of Commerce and the University of Maine in Presque Isle.
