The Houlton Council of Catholic Women met Nov. 6 for their monthly meeting. Twelve members were present as well as Deacon Al.
In President Hardy’s absence, Vice President Janet Barker conducted the meeting with opening prayers, salute to the cross and flag and our opening hymn.
Janet Barker said the blessing and we then enjoyed our refreshments provided by the November committee.
The secretary’s report for October was read by Kathy Klein. The treasurer’s report was given by Jane Mitchell. Alta Reardon, corresponding secretary, read thank you cards and other correspondence. Jane Stile, historian, provided information from our files in 1942 and 1947. She also provided us with cards from Paralyzed Veterans of America and members signed cards to be distributed to veterans.
Janet Barker thanked everyone for their participation in another successful rummage sale.
Charlene Tabb gave a video presentation on the HCCW website and was congratulated on her very impressive job.
Donations were made to various causes and organizations.
The Christmas Craft Fair will be held on Dec. 2 at St. Anthony’s Hall. HCCW will sell tickets on a wreath decorated with 50 $1 bills.
Deacon Al reported on the NADD assembly he and Deacon Ron attended recently in Rhode Island.
Our Christmas potluck will be held on Monday, Dec. 4, at 5:30. We will have a Yankee Swap with a gift totaling no more than $10.
Anniversaries and birthdays for November were noted. The seminarian basket was passed and prayer requests were gathered. We closed with an Our Father, three Hail Marys and a Glory Be.
All Catholic ladies are invited to attend the next meeting, which is the Dec. 4 potluck.
