FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — The National Association of Health Care Assistants (NAHCA) held its conference recently in Washington, D.C., on the theme Passion in Action. Fort Fairfield resident Beverly Butt attended.
Approximately 200 CNAs from many states attended, including one from Houston who had worked an 18-hour shift before flying to Washington.
Speakers presented on topics such as phase two of federal regulation implementations this November, along with residents’ rights, CNAs as lifelines for nursing homes and assisted-living centers, individual memberships, online training, CNA support and social media, the importance of stopping elder abuse, and foundation for CNA disaster teams.
An awards banquet featured a Key to Quality Awards ceremony, during which 16 awardees received recognition.
