MANTER, Evelyn E., 86, FORT FAIRFIELD, at Presque Isle, January 9, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wed., Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. at the St. Denis Catholic Church, Fort Fairfield. Arrangements are in the care of Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.
FORT FAIRFIELD – Evelyn E. Manter, 86, passed away Sunday morning, January 9, 2011, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility. She was born March 27, 1924 in Caribou, the daughter of William and Sarah “Sadie” (LaBelle) Theriault. Evelyn was raised in Presque Isle, attended local schools, and was a communicant of the St. Denis Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood, Fort Fairfield.
In addition to her being a dedicated homemaker, Evelyn has been employed as manager of the former Plymouth Hotel, Fort Fairfield for several years. She had been a resident of Fields Lane, Fort Fairfield for almost fifteen years and greatly enjoyed spending time with her children and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Manter was predeceased by five brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Norma Manter of Fort Fairfield and Spring Hill, Florida, and Robert and Betsy Manter of Portland; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and David Ricker of Fort Fairfield; one brother, Dale Theriault of Auburn; one sister, Mabel McNeal of Belfast; four grandchildren, Brian Manter and his wife, Lisa of Carmel, Jeff Manter and his wife, Deidre of Hermon, Shawn Manter and his wife, Heidi of Caribou, and Erica Ricker of Belfast; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at 11 a.m., at the St. Denis Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood, 147 Main Street, Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Aaron Damboise celebrant. Interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, at a later date. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held after the Mass at the home of David and Carol Ricker, 89 Fort Hill Street, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Evelyn to the Mars Hill Nursing Home and Rehab, 11 Highland Avenue, Mars Hill, 04758. Envelopes will be available at the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main Street, Fort Fairfield.
