FLORENCE ‘FLOSSIE’ MACDONALD, HOULTON – Florence ‘Flossie’ MacDonald, 88, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2017, at Madigan Estates in Houlton. Flossie was born on May 21, 1929, in Bridgewater, the daughter of Charles and Arvella (Delong) Hallett.
Mom worked many years for Al Jewel Farms in Monticello, before moving to Houlton in 1977. She then went to work for Community Living Association, a job that she loved very much, and from which she retired after twenty years. Mom loved to get dressed up and dance, and in the 80’s spent many days entertaining nursing homes with her Ball Room dancing group. She also loved to sing, whether it was at home on a Saturday night, or in church on Sunday morning, she had a beautiful voice. Mom loved visiting her family and friends, and was always on the road somewhere with Hazel or Doris. Mom also loved to play Yahtzee and she could play for hours. She could pull Yahtzee’s out of thin air, and it became a secret game to see who could cheat the best when she played with her sister Arlene.
Mom is survived by her children, Larry Boyce of Arkansas, Daniel Boyce and his wife, Pauline, of Ellsworth, Diane Emery and her husband, Tyrone, whom she loved as a son, of Cary, Sandra Lee and her husband, Kenny, of Linneus, Janet Lambert and her fiancé, Fred Botting, of Houlton. She will also be remembered by her grandchildren, Stephen Boyce, Joseph Boyce, Nikki Andermann, Jason Boyce, Crissy Emery, Erica Flewelling, Jonathan Flewelling, Jordan Toner, and Jeremiah Botting, along with several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as a sister, Barb Hallett, of Bridgewater, and like a son, Joaquin Gonzales, of Arkansas. In addition to her parents, Mom was predeceased by her siblings, Arlene Kirkbride, who passed away on November 5th and has been patiently waiting for mom to join her, Fred Kirkbride, Charles Hallett, Natalie and Eric Finnemore, Ashley Hallett, and Doris MacKenzie.
The family would like to thank Dr. Abouleish and the Staff of Madigan Estates, especially the Nursing Staff, you are appreciated. There will be no service at this time.
