Saucier and Manifold earn weekly honors
University of Maine at Presque Isle basketball players Rashell Saucier and Patrick Manifold were both honored as players of the week by the Association of Division III Independents.
According to UMPI Sports Information Director Tracy Guerrette, it is the first time two UMPI players have been honored on the same week.

In addition, Saucier was named Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association rookie of the week and for the second time this season the Sunrise Conference rookie of the week.
Saucier led the Owls to a 2-1 week averaging 18.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.3 steals, and 2.0 assists. The freshman forward from Washburn scored a career-high 24 points, made three steals and grabbed five rebounds in a 61-58 win over UM-Fort Kent. She also had 14 points and six rebounds in a 70-31 win over Fisher and had 17 points and three steals in a 64-58 loss to SUNY Canton.
She came up big from the free throw line in the win over the Bengals Thursday as she converted on 12 of 13 attempts. Saucier also performed well shooting the ball from the field as she was 21 for 36 from the floor (58.3%) in the three games.
Patrick Manifold
Manifold, a sophomore forward from Great Yarmouth, England, nearly averaged a double-double on the week with 19.3 points and 9.3 rebounds over three games.
He helped his team to its first conference victory against SUNY-Canton, scoring 25 points and nabbing 12 boards.
He also scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a loss to Fisher College, good for his sixth double-double of the season.
