TOWNSHIP 12, RANGE 8, Maine — A 51-year-old driver found dead in a dump truck Monday may have suffered a medical event before crashing the rig into Ross Stream  in the North Maine Woods, according to police.

Cedric Pelletier of Sinclair was found dead with a serious head injury inside the 1996 Ford dump truck that went off the Realty Road and into the stream at about 8 a.m. Monday near Clayton Lake, Maine State Police Lt. Brian Harris reported Tuesday in a press release.

Pelletier may have had a medical issue before the crash that led to him driving off the roadway, Harris said in the release. The accident is still under investigation, the lieutenant said.

Pelletier was driving the truck, which had a plow and sander attached, for Robert McBreairty and Sons of Fort Kent.

Clayton Lake is located about 65 miles west of Ashland.
