FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ – Kathleen M. Karr, nee Ouellette, died on October 14th, 2017, at Morningstar Assisted Living in Fountain Hills, AZ, surrounded by her loving caregivers and oldest daughter, Joan, at her side. She was born in Caribou, ME, on May 29, 1925, the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Leona (Desjardins) Ouellette.
Mrs. Karr attended Caribou schools and was a graduate of Gorham State Teacher’s College. She married Lawrence F. Cannon from South Portland and they had two daughters, Joan Eileen and Jane (Cricket) Elizabeth. They traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe during Mr. Cannon’s Air Force career. During that time, Kathleen was a school teacher and enjoyed teaching the primary grades. She was an active member of many professional teaching organizations during her almost 50 year teaching career.
She married Dr. Robert Karr in 1972 and they retired to Lancaster, California, where she continued to teach part time for several years. She was an avid traveler and enjoyed taking short trips throughout the West with her retired teacher associates. She was active in California Retired Teachers Association and an active member in her parish church, serving in the choir for several years.
She is survived by daughters, Joan Cannon of Phoenix, AZ, Jane Price of Courtney, BC, four stepchildren, Vicki Markowski of Coatsville, PA, Peter Karr of Lee’s Summit, MO, Michael Karr of Iowa City, IA, and Terri Armendariz of Tehachapi, CA; four grandchildren, Crispinn Price, Seth Price, Aaron LeGrand, Jessica Reeder, and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, stepson, Robert Karr Jr., and grandson, Nathan Markowski.
A family memorial service will be held in the spring in Caribou, Maine, with Mockler Funeral Home making the arrangements.
