HODGDON, Maine – Judith M. Oliver, 83, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 30, 2017. She was born in Haynesville on April 22, 1934, to Judson and Dorothy (Bedell) McBrine.
Judy was a graduate of Houlton High School, the Aroostook State Teachers College in Presque Isle, and she earned her Masters of Education from the University of Maine at Orono. She married Donald J. Oliver in 1955 and started her teaching career at the Presque Isle Middle School that same year. Later, she taught physical education and coached basketball and gymnastics at Houlton High School, “retiring” in 1980. Judy then went on to work with Don at their farm in Haynesville, growing flowers, vegetables and potatoes, which she sold at the Houlton Farmers Market (McDonald’s parking lot) until finally retiring in 2016 at the age of 82!
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald Oliver; two sons, Joel and his wife, Lynn, and Matthew and his wife, Lee-Rae, all of Hodgdon; five grandchildren, Britta, Dylan, Walker, Anna, and Wyatt; two sisters, Mary Jane Chick and Clarice Irish; two sisters-in-law, Marie McBrine and Phyllis Oliver; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, William, Judson Jr., and Joseph McBrine and sister, Winnifred Carr.
