HOULTON AND MILBRIDGE, Maine – Chester Richardson Curtis, 84, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at a Bangor hospital. He was born October 9, 1933, in Harrington, the son of Chester and Natalie Curtis.
Chester graduated Harrington High School in 1952 and from the University Of Maine at Orono in 1956 with a Bachelor Of Science Degree in Forestry. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant. He served for two years active duty with the U.S. Army 4th Infantry Division Artillery. He remained active with the U.S. Army National Guard until 1984 reaching the rank of Lt. Colonel. Chester also taught school in Harrington, Etna, and Dixmont, teaching civics, math, science, and social studies. He was well known for selling seafood for over fifty years throughout eastern and northern Maine. His Downeast accent, humor and colorful stories will be remembered fondly by anyone fortunate enough to have known him.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Lee (Harvey) Curtis, of Houlton, a daughter, Catherine Cooper of Shrewsbury, MA, and a son, Daniel Curtis of Steuben.
