PRESQUE ISLE — Downtown will come alive with fun activities the weekend of the World Cup Biathlon, as the Winter Festival takes place Saturday, Feb. 5, beginning in the late afternoon and continuing through early evening.
“The Winter Festival is planned for Presque Isle on Feb. 5 from 5-8 p.m. This is being held as part of the World Cup Biathlon, as a way to entertain visitors after the races on Saturday,” said Theresa Fowler, executive director, Presque Isle Area Chamber of Commerce.
Sponsored by United Insurance and hosted by the Presque Isle Fire Department Auxiliary, activities will include horse wagon rides, dog sled demos and rides, Zumba demonstrations, games, food, music and more. Area beauty queens will be on hand and invite the public to enjoy milk and cookies with them at the Northeastland Hotel at 4 p.m.
“After milk and cookies, spectators can enjoy a sled/wagon parade. Parade participants are encouraged to decorate non-motorized sleds and wagons and take part in the parade through Main Street,” she said.
City Council approved the closure of Main Street between Academy and State streets from 5-8 p.m.
“The public is asked to stop parking on Main Street by 4 p.m. to allow for setup,” Fowler said.
Fowler said organizers welcome additional help to make the evening a fun and memorable occasion.
“The organizing committee has done a great job planning this event but would welcome any additional activities or help,” said Fowler.
