WALLINGFORD, Conn. — Donald ‘Bernie’ Hartt, 76, of Wallingford, CT, died unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday, December 6, 2017. He was born on May 25, 1941, in Presque Isle, Maine, to the late Leonard Hartt and June (Carter) Hartt. He was a resident of the Meriden/Wallingford area for over 55 years.
Don grew up in Presque Isle, Maine, moved to Connecticut in the early 60’s, where he worked for Pratt & Whitney in the North Haven and Middletown locations for over 30 years. Joined the US Army in October of 1959, and after his four year stint continued serving his country in the Army National Guard until 1967.
Don is survived by his sons, Stephen Hartt of East Hampton, CT, and Joel Hartt of Manchester, NH, and their mother, Carol Hartt of Meriden, CT; two sisters, Christine Barta of Lake Osewego, Oregon, and Linda Zeigler of Terryville, CT; two grandchildren, Masie and Robert Hartt of East Hampton, CT; and many nieces, nephews and friends that cared about him dearly. He was predeceased by his three sisters, Marie Fillmore, Penny McCall, Marlene Clark, and two brothers, Leonard Hartt Jr. and Raymond Hartt.
Don’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will have a private memorial service in the Spring of 2018.
