PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Arthur Nelson Clark, 92, passed away on December 12th, 2017, at The Caribou Veteran’s Home after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born on May 23, 1925, in Presque Isle, Maine, son of Chester and Hazel Clark.
He is survived by three daughters, Ronda Bohovich and her partner, Pat Gorman, of Island Pond, VT, Francine Mosher and her husband, Bob, of East Chapman, ME, Alena Barnes and her husband, Bruce, of Waldoboro, ME, and a son, Joel Clark of Bangor, ME; a sister, Elrita Bell of Presque Isle, ME, and Mary Hafford of Augusta, ME. Also four grandchildren, Jennifer Cray, Carrie Donnell, Joseph Weissman and Mathew Stevens, and nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Arthur farmed with his parents in Presque Isle for many years.
He was drafted out of his Presque Isle High School Class into the service (U.S. Army) for three years, 1943-1946, stationed in Alaska and Hawaii as a mechanic. When Arthur would get furlough, he would double date his future wife, Alta Clark-Bagley, due to gas rationing.
After the service, he worked for Archie Bishop’s Pontiac Dealership as a mechanic and then for 30 plus years as an accountant at Mail Me Monday and Chester M. Kearney, first located over the Braden Theater in Presque Isle, Maine, then moved to Dyer Street, Presque Isle, ME, until he retired.
Arthur enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping. He would take his family on a week’s vacation to visit family, either to Farmington, ME, Keene, NH, N.B., Canada, and a visit to Niagara Falls, NY.
Arthur enjoyed going flying with his cousin, Leland Drost, in Leland’s plane. Arthur enjoyed loading his own ammunition, sitting for hours loading Bullets. Arthur was a long member of The Knights of Pythias Lodge and The American Legion Post #0088. Arthur loved his family, was proud of them all.
