HOULTON, Maine — Police arrested a local man last week after they say he assaulted an officer.
Joseph Dobbins, 19, was charged with assault on an officer following the alleged altercation at his residence on Dec. 16.

Houlton Police Chief Tim DeLuca said in a written statement that Officers Richard York and Travis Smith responded to a report about a dispute at a residence on Foxcroft Road just after 5 p.m.
Officers made contact with Dobbins and the victim. During the investigation, Dobbins allegedly became uncooperative and confrontational. They tried to subdue Dobbins and arrest him but he refused to comply and became threatening and physical with the officers, according to DeLuca.
The police then attempted unsuccessfully to restrain Dobbins and eventually used a stun gun on him, the chief said.
Dobbins was then arrested and taken to Houlton Regional Hospital for observation. Smith also was treated and released from the hospital for an unspecified injury suffered in the altercation, DeLuca reported.
Dobbins remains at the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton, a booking officer said Wednesday.
