Aroostook County natives Dick Cormier, John Habeeb and Mark Rossignol will be honored at the annual Maine Sports Legends Hall of Honors banquet, to be held in Waterville on June 24.
Cormier, a Fort Fairfield native who was a standout semi-professional baseball player and later became an educator, coach and administrator in Van Buren, will be inducted posthumously as he passed away in 2012.
Habeeb, a special education teacher at Caribou Middle School, played tennis at Caribou High School and the University of Southern Maine and has coached the Viking girls and boys tennis teams since the 1980s. Several of his teams have captured regional and state championships.
Rossignol, who resides in New Sweden, is the owner of County Physical Therapy, working with injured athletes to help return them to competition. He also was a standout athlete at Van Buren High School in the late 1970s and early 80s.

The honor of being inducted into the Maine Sports Legends Hall of Honors is presented to men and women for their extraordinary commitment and work behind the scenes in helping students both academically and athletically. These individuals may work in education, coaching and the community at the local or state level.
