God’s divine intervention
To the editor:
On Feb. 20, 2011, God’s divine intervention was seen in a mighty way in the life of our 14-month-old grandson, Carson. Our daughter was rocking Carson and when she looked down at him, he had stopped breathing and had turned blue. She picked up her phone to call 9-1-1 and then threw it on the floor and held Carson close to her and ran outdoors and was crying for help.
Across the street, a neighbor who was a very avid fan of the Indy 500, was watching the race on TV. All of a sudden, he felt the necessity to go outdoors. His wife could not understand why he was leaving the race to go outdoors. He went outdoors and was kicking the ice in his driveway with his foot when he heard my daughter’s cries for help. He ran to the end of the road and saw her crying, but still did not know what the situation was until he saw the baby’s arm dangling from her side. He took the baby and laid him down and started CPR – he did 75 compressions and Carson started to breath again. 9-1-1 was called and ambulances came and Carson was taken to TAMC. He was later released that day and is now back to being a normal 14-month-old.
The man was Brett Spinning, who is a retired Federal Marshall and State Trooper from Florida with EMT knowledge, because of his positions. This man was sent by God to save my grandson’s life and we will always be grateful that he heeded God’s nudging to go outdoors.
God wants to be a part of our lives – all we have to do is open our heart to Him and let Him in and He will direct our paths. God was certainly directing Brett Spinning’s life on Feb. 20, and it left a huge impact on our family. Brett also called the ER to check on Carson, which meant a lot to us. Thank you, Brett, for getting involved.
I also need to thank those wonderful EMTs that came with the ambulances. They were so caring. After Carson and my daughter were being attended to at the hospital, they came back in to check and see how they were doing. People like these EMTs and Brett Spinning makes our area a better place to live. When you know strangers care, it certainly makes a difference.
Thank you God for your divine intervention in Carson’s life. What a mighty God you are.
