Mars Hill Rotary launches raffle

The Mars Hill Rotary Club is holding their annual raffle, with proceeds to go toward scholarships and the capital campaign at The Aroostook Medical Center for purchasing new beds for the Aroostook Health Center.  Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased from any Rotarian or from Kathy at the superintendent’s office at Central Aroostook High School.

There are currently over 30 items on the ticket, so there are over 30 chances to win. Items include 100 gallons of fuel oil and gift certificates for oil changes, restaurants car washes and more.

The winners will be drawn at the end of December at a home basketball game.

Rotary Club

The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning, Jan. 2, at the Aroostook Health Center at 6:30 a.m.

The guest speaker was Isabelle Wright, a senior at CAHS.  Wright spoke about some of her activities in her senior year.  She is doing community service by working for 45 minutes each day on math with gifted and talented students in the fifth and sixth gradse at Fort Street Elementary School.

As state FFA vice president, she has traveled to New York and Washington, D.C., for camps and conferences.  She has also helped start a new chapter in Hodgdon and junior high chapters in Mars Hill and Ashland.

Currently Miss Greater Mars Hill 2017, Wright plans to attend college to study nutrition or global health with plans to go on to become a pediatrician.  When asked if she plans on returning to Aroostook County, she admitted to having picked out a spot to build her home on family property. She is sure that her grandfather will go along with this.
