Easton senior citizens plan trip to New Brunswick

On Thursday, March 24, the Happy Days Senior Citizens Club from Easton and the Rec club with Hillary Trainer will be heading to New Brunswick to a maple syrup farm.
Everyone is welcome and each pays their own way. The cost is $11 per person which includes a buffet breakfast, a tour of the place and you make taffy out of maple syrup. They will be taking a school bus and it will be leaving at 10:30 a.m. Don’t forget your passports.
Birthdays/anniversaries
On March 16, Stacey Smith, Sally Lovely, Rick Brown and Scott Allen all have a birthday. I want to wish a very special birthday wish to my baby girl, Stacey. Love you.
Pat Fitzherbert has a birthday on March 17.
On March 18, Carolyn Longley, Riley Clough, Lisa Turner, Angie Johnson and Grampy Dery all have a birthday to celebrate.
Bruce White, Mary Yoder and Graydon Buckingham all have birthdays on March 19.
On March 20, Noah Yoder, Tommy Fogarty, Carrie Hull and Barbara Kierstead will all be another year older. Happy birthday Carrie, my friend. Also Phil and Leslie Carlow have an anniversary on March 20.
Collin Sotomayer, Mikey Fitzherbert, Paul Demerchant and Stephen Rooney all have a day to celebrate on March 21.
On March 22, Traci Place, Phil Carlow, Sydney Trask, Lynda-Foren-Turner, Melissa Corbin, Jennifer Nadeau and Elijah Saucier will all be celebrating their birthdays.

Lessons will begin on March 23 through the Presque Isle Indoor Pool. The cost is $20 ($16 for each additional child from the same household) for five lessons. Transportation will be provided directly after school. Please make checks payable to the Town of Easton prior to the first lesson. Open to children in grades 1 and up. Students will be assigned to classes based on their abilities. Transportation will return to the hall by 4:30 p.m. Lessons will be held each Wednesday from March 23 through April 27 (with the exception of April 20).
Zumba classes have started
Come join the Latin-inspired, easy-to-follow, calorie-burning, dance fitness-party™. Feel the music and let loose. Classes will be held on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:15 to 7:15. Class began on March 10 and will run through April 14 in the elementary school gym. The cost is $40 to attend twice per week and $25 for once a week. Please register at the Town Office, make checks payable to ‘Town of Easton.’
Zumbatomic
“The crazy-cool dance-fitness workout for kids (grades 1 through 8) set to hip-hop, salsa, reggaeton and more.” Classes will be held every Monday starting March 14 through April 11. The cost will be $10 for the first child from each family, $8 for the second child, $6 for the third child and the fourth child (or more) is free!
Rec calendar
Wednesday, March 16 — Junior activities for ages 2 and up at the hall from 9:30-11 a.m. No seniors’ exercise today.
Trip to the Braden Theatre; school releases at noon and we will depart immediately after from EES. The cost is $5; this includes ticket, popcorn and soda. The movie titles are “Rango” (PG) and “Just Go With It” (PG13). We’ll return to the hall at 2:30 p.m.
Grades 5 and 6 girls’ basketball practice from 2:45 to 4 p.m.; and grades 5 and 6 boys’ basketball practice from 5:45-7 p.m. in the elementary school gym.
Thursday, March 17 — Kings Landing Sugar Bush tour. We will leave at 8 a.m. to learn all about maple sugaring in the 1800s; it looks a lot different than it does nowadays. It is sure to be a fun day with a tour of the sugar bush, a pancake lunch and maple syrup taffy. The staff at King’s Landing also have a game show designed to see just how much we learned! The cost is $13. The gift store will not be open so no extra money is required. Please dress appropriately for the weather; we will be outside for part of the day. We should return home around 3:30 p.m. Children must have a release form and birth certificate on file w/ the Rec Department to attend this trip.
The 5th- and 6th-grade teams will play Mars Hill at 4 and 5 p.m. in the elementary school gym.

Friday, March 18 — No junior activities today. Hang-out time at the hall from 10 a.m. to noon.
Swimming and McDonald’s field trip. The bus will depart at 12 p.m. and return at 3:15 p.m. Participants will be responsible for their own lunch and $2 for swimming. Please be sure your child has a swimsuit and towel and he/she must be able to swim the width of the pool to be in the water without an adult.

Monday, March 21 — Senior Nutrition Class starting at 11 a.m. in the recreation room at the manor. Zumbatomic class from 2:45 to 4:15 p.m. in the elementary school gym. Open to grades K-8. Pre-register at the Town Office. Zumba class from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. in the elementary school cafeteria. Pre-register at the Town Office.
Tuesday, March 22 — Cross country skiing after school until 4:30 p.m. at the Ferris’s on Ladner Road.

Student registration
Easton School Department is now acception registration for children entering kindergarten or ECP in the fall of 2011. All Easton children who are 5 years old (on or before Oct. 15) are eligible for enrollment in the kindergarten class. All Easton children who are 4 years old (on or before Oct. 15) are eligible for the ECP (Early Childhood Program) class.
Call the Easton Elementary School at 488-7700 to register your child for either of the above classes. The classroom teacher will notify parents/guardians when an informational meeting for parents is scheduled. The following documents are required by the state of Maine: proof of immunizations and birth certificate (hospital copies are not acceptable). These documents must be presented prior to the child beginning school.
