EASTON, Maine — On Saturday, Jan. 27, the Francis Malcolm Planetarium invites the public to view the full-dome video “Back to the Moon for Good,” followed by the first moonlight snowshoe hike of the season.
The show begins at 6:30 p.m. and details the upcoming GOOGLE Lunar X Prize competition, a $30 million effort for privately funded teams to successfully and robotically explore the lunar surface. This is an approximately 30-minute planetarium feature.
After the show all are invited to a snowshoe hike by moonlight at 7 p.m., which will be followed by hot chocolate.
Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Snowshoes are available in a variety of sizes to rent for $2, but must be reserved in advance. Organizers recommend flashlights or headlamps.
Reservations are required as space is limited. Call (207) 488-5451 or e-mail tricia@francismalcolmsciencecenter.com to reserve a spot.
