EASTON, Maine – It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Vera Marjorie Ritchie Shaw, 93, who passed away on January 17, 2018, at the Aroostook Health Centre in Mars Hill.
Vera was born on October 24, 1924, in Greenfield, NB, Canada, where she attended local schools and graduated from Florenceville High School in 1940. Vera went to vocational school in Woodstock, NB, and graduated in 1941, going on to work in the Royal Bank until she met and married the love of her life, Gerald H. Shaw of Easton, ME. After moving to Easton with Gerry, Vera continued to work in banking until her retirement in 1987. Vera and Gerry spent many years enjoying camping, skidooing, travelling, going to dances, and spending time with family and friends.
Vera leaves to mourn her daughters, Marjorie Simonds (Carmen) Royalton, NB, and Judy Crawford (Allen) St. Albert, AB. Grandchildren, Ryan Simonds (Cathleen), Shawna Ricketts (Allan), Angela White (Jeff), Michelle Aldana (Thomas), Christopher Crawford (Christine), Ashley Maksymic (Jordan), six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Vera was predeceased by her husband, Gerald, parents, Wilmot and Cora Ritchie, sisters and brothers-in-law, Eleanor and Ernest Tremblay and, Audrey and Herman Bartley.
Visitation and funeral were held on January 20, 2018, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Fort Fairfield, ME, with Father Kevin Kinsey officiating. Interment will be in the Spring at Estes Park Cemetery, Easton. Online condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com.
